Lunch... the greatest part of the day, better than any boring class he had to sit in. Yet why was he, Aenghus Ulster Kildare, 4th year student of Gryffindor House, and the only son and heir to the rather large Irish Kildare family of witches and wizards, sitting, taking up his precious lunchtime, listening to his genius sister Aíne talk to him about Transfiguration? Oh right, because he needed her help since his spell skills were lacking. Aenghus half-heartedly watched the petite blonde tap the platter in front of her, turning it into a pitcher seemingly effortlessly. She motioned for him to try and he did... except for the fact that his platter looked more like a gravy boat when he was done with it.
Aíne rolled her eyes, telling him to put more effort into the spell while he snappishly told her to show him the most advanced transfiguration she could do... which was stupid considering that her transfiguration skills were more advanced than many of the students in her year and he watched her take his plate of food and without breaking a sweat, effortlessly turned it into a huge swan which nipped at his nose before she turned it back. It was his turn to roll his eyes at her smug grin and comment that it was easy. "Look Aíne, it just doesn't make sense, these spells, this subject might as well be Ancient Greek to me!" he threw up his hands in defeat.

Jane walked to the Gryffindor house table she was a bit hungry so she decided to eat lunch today. She saw Aenghus Kildare with his sister a ravenclaw he was talking about Transfiguration Jane didn't think it was that hard but then again he was a year older than her. Despite the age difference Jane had a small crush on Aenghus though she never really talked to him. She noticed a gap between him on each side no one was sitting there. Well it's now or never So she sat next to him but he still had some space. Jane began filling her plate with a pancake and some toast wondering if he was going to say anything.

Aíne groaned in protest at her brother's complaints. "It's hard because ye aren't trying, actually put some work in it before ye quit!" she snapped, feeling her patience drain from her body. ""I'll show you one more time..." she tapped her wand on the platter before her and it transformed smoothly into a pitcher, "Now you try."" He gently tapped the pitcher and this time, the Transfiguration was much more obvious, much smoother. "Good job... it's obviously better... you keep trying, I'm going to go grab something," she said, getting up from the table despite his protests.
She noticed the small Gryffindor girl sit shyly next to her brother and smoothly moved her seat to next to her on the other side that Aenghus wasn't occupying. "So... ye fancy my brother do ye?" she whispered with a grin on her face, quickly analyzing the girl's face.

Jane blushed a bit when Aíne asked her if she fancied her brother. "Is it really that obvious?" Jane whispered back still embarressed that his own sister could figure it out just by one look at her did that mean Aenghus knew too? that thought scared her a bit. She took one questioning glance at Aenghus as if saying does he know? before taking a bit of her toast she swallowed then wiped the crumbs from her mouth. "Jane Watson nice to meet you" She said with a small smile sticking her hand out to Aine to shake.

Aíne laughed softly. "No, I'm just observant, plus, I'm extra-sensitive to matters that concern my family, particularly my little brother," she told her, shaking her hand. "I'm Aíne Kildare," she said, "Don't worry, Aenghus doesn't know, but he won't if ye don't confront him."
Aenghus could be dense at times, however, he could be intuitive if given clues, which this girl probably wasn't providing as he never mentioned anything to him about noticing a girl trying to gain his affections. "Ye might want to step up the flirtation a bit, Aenghus isn't always the most perceptive of people..." she whispered so her brother couldn't hear, though, considering the fact that he was muttering angrily and using words that their mother certainly hadn't taught them, she didn't think she ran the risk of being overheard.

Jane chuckled a bit "I'll try to be more...open with my feelings then Jane said a little bit happy that Aenghus didn't know about her feelings she wanted to tell him herself when she was brave enough maybe even ask him to Hogsmeade or something. The thought of that brought a smile to her lips and a slight blush to her cheeks. "Thanks for the advice I'll keep it in mind" Jane assured though she was sure she could hear Aenghus muttering a few choice swear words she didn't really mind much she thought it was a little funny. "You're really making me I had a sister instead of a brother right now" Jane said jokingly she could never talk about boys with Alec her muggle brother he would through a fit if she did.

Aíne looked over towards Aenghus who seemed to finally be getting the hang of the spell. "Ah, thanks, I've got six sisters and a brother and I don't mind adopting more," she said, smiling and patting the girl on the shoulder. "I wish ye luck," she said with a wink before moving to Aenghus, tapping him on the shoulder on the side where Jane sat, subtly forcing him to notice the younger girl as she spoke to him in their native language, quieting her voice.
"I needs return to Ravenclaw, but ye keep working on that spell and I'll check back with ye at dinner," she told him, ruffling his hair fondly before disappearing across the hall to join her housemates in food and idle banter, as well as the occasional debate over some such fact. As she talked, Aíne made sure to keep an eye on the Gryffindor table, trying to watch the scene before her unfold.

"You're sister seems really nice" Jane said turning her attention to the boy of her affections she was fully aware that Aine was probably still watching them waiting for Jane to make the move. Sighing she thought what had she gotten herself into. " I'm Jane Watson by the way you're Aenghus Kildare right?" Jane said playing coy of course she knew who he was she had always known though she wondered if he ever knew who she was.

Aenghus tapped the platter again, this time completing the transfiguration sucessfully. "Aye, she is, but there are times when she can be a bossy know-it-all," he muttered, somehow managing to return the pitcher to its rightful state as a platter. He looked down, recognizing the 3rd year that he'd caught looking at him more than once. He hadn't any idea why she did what she did, so he never bothered mentioning the little not-interactions to any of his sisters, knowing they'd probably jump to conclusions and start pumping him for information that he didn't have or make up facts that weren't true.
"Um, yeah... I'm Aenghus, you're a year below me aren't you?"

Jane nodded at his question so he didn't know her but then again she never really talked to him but still it hurt. "yeah I have a twin brother he's muggle though I love him and all though I wish I had a sister for certain things" Jane stared at the platter he just witnessed turned into a pitcher. "You're Irish right? I always wanted to go to Ireland I hear it's beautiful there well probably more exciting and beautiful than it is here in England anyways" Uh stop being such a blabber mouth you'll creep him out She mentally scolded herself then she felt a smack in the back of her head she turned to see Isabella Night walk past her a smirk on her face. "Ugh I hate her, well all slytherins but mostly her in general" Jane thought aloud glaring at her new target of discussion she thought of all the things she could do to her right now hopefully without getting caught.

"Yes, I'm from Ireland, it's a very lovely country, very green. My family and me, we live out in the middle of nowhere, just outside of the village of Kildare... This is the farthest from home, I've ever been, me da's the only one who's ever been to Dublin, which he says is all stone, but I'd like to go some time," he said dreamily, thinking of home.
Then, a Slytherin girl from his year walked past, and knocked Jane on the head. As the younger girl expressed her dislike of the Slytherins, Aenghus stood up, "Excuse me for a moment?" he asked, before going to confront the girl. "Hey, what was that for?" he asked, grabbing the Slytherin's arm in a tight grip.

"Don't touch me Gryffindor the little mudblood deserved it" She hissed obviously stating her dislike for the muggle born girl before stalking over to the Slytherin table Gryffindors and Slytherins glaring at each other like Angels and devils. "It's fine Aenghus she hates me for being muggle born just ignore her like I do" Jane said pulling Aenghus back to the table by his sleeve. She was pleased a bit that he would stand up for her like that it made her like him more. Thanks for standing up for me like that it was really brave of you

Aenghus clenched his fist and stomped over to the Slytherin table, seeing red. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Aíne stand up and move over to Jane, ready to jump in when things got out of hand. He knew all the Slytherins were staring at him. He didn't care though, he was a Gryffindor, and Gryffindors didn't let anyone pick on people. "I wasn't done talking to you," he said in his heavy Irish accent, tapping on Isabella's shoulder.
"Aenghus!" Aíne shouted, moving towards him before things could escalate

Well I was why don't you hang out with your little Mudblood over there Isabella sneered eyeing Jane with obvious disapproval. Honestly how can you stand being so close to her when she can reaks of dirt She said while a few slytherins chuckled. "Seriously forget her it's not like this is the first time" Jane explained there where no professors here yet though still . "Please just ignore her"Jane begged her grey eyes pleading.

Aenghus had his wand out and was pointing it at the Slytherins with a furious scowl on his face. He ignored Jane's pleadings, normally, he would have acquiesced, but no one... no one got away with calling anyone else a mudblood. "Why are any of ye better than the rest of us, are ye too stupid to realize that, while the lot of ye are Pureblood, ye will eventually die out or marry muggle-borns? I don't see why the Purebloods deserve better treatment than anyone else here..." he hissed, seething with rage, ready to hex someone if he had to. Aíne had a grip on Jane's shoulder, holding her wand in her hand with an iron grip, her face grim. Aenghus was going to get hobbled by a bunch of low-lifes because he was too chivalrous to overlook some stupid action or comment.
"Jane, please, go find one of the professors, I'm going to try to sort this out," she pleaded, motioning towards the door before taking off across the room at a sprint.
((Feel free to start whaling away at Aenghus))
